Is the wrap being reviewed a reweave of another original release? If so please tell which version you have?
It is the third version of Natibaby’s Exclusive Marsupial Mamas design. I have also tried both Autumn Blaze (50% Wool) and Cherry Tree (60% Linen).
Does it have cush?
If anything is going to make you love Winter is it this wrap! Winter Elm is incredibly moldable, fluffy and so easy to wrap with. I was pleasantly surprised! In hand, my first opinion was that it felt stiff. I did not expect it be be so comfy when wrapping!
How does it feel on your shoulders?
My shoulders were remarkably comfortable! Unlike Autumn Blaze, I thought Winter Elm folded very nicely at the shoulders. The weight distribution was perfect and there was absolutely no slipping.
How much diagonal stretch does the wrap have?
I would place it somewhere in the middle in terms of stretchiness. When tightening, I was able to pull more and more slack out of it, but it didn’t sag one bit. This puppy stays put!
A single layer carry is really all you need with Winter Elm. It is cushy enough and strong enough to withstand my toddler in a ruck for an hour. If you knew my toddler, you would agree that is a feat! I thought that seat popping was imminent with this one because at first glance it appeared to be shorter in width. As I was making his seat it felt as though I didn’t have a ton of fabric to work with. To my surprise, (and Cameron’s dimay), popping was not an option. A ruck held like glue.
How supportive did you find it in a double layer carry?
A double layer carry brings Winter Elm to the next level in comfort and support. It is so easy to maneuver. We went for a long walk in the snow in a DH with a freshwater finish and my back did not ache at all. And Cameron fell fast asleep!
Can you compare this wrap to another wrap already on the market?
In hand, I thought Winter Elm was not nearly as soft and buttery as Autumn Blaze. But surprisingly, I liked its wrapping qualities better! It felt a tad more supportive and secure. Very similar to Cherry Tree, but more moldable and easier to wrap with.
Who do you think this wrap would best be geared to?
Because of it’s width, this would be a fabulous wrap for new babies. But honestly, I absolutely loved it with my toddler! I think all babywearers would feel the same.
Would you recommend this wrap to a friend? Why? What did you love about it?
Yes, yes yes! Natibaby has done it again. This is by far the most beautiful and supportive of all the tree wraps. Aesthetically, it conveys the natural beauty of elms but the slight contrast in the thread color doesn’t scream, look at me I am a tree! Its pleasantly subtle. When wrapped, it doesn't look like you have a branch coming out of your armpit if you know what I mean. ;)
Winter Elm is the dark horse of the tree wraps. It is edgy and mysterious. Supportive and cushy. It surprised me on every level. I guarantee that after wrapping and wearing this beauty, it will come out as one of your favorites, too.
