Post-Wash: 4.50m, .67m(26.5 in)
What was the weight of the wrap (ex: g/m^2):
Pre-Wash: 278 g/m2 from Danu Slings page
Post-Wash: 345 g/m2
What is the thickness of this wrap?
Medium but dense so don’t let the g/m2 scare you.
Does it have cush?
It is not marshmellowy but does have cush. The density of the weave and the width of the wrap provided a cushiness.
How does it feel on your shoulders?
Cushy with both the baby and the toddler. No diggyness at all.
How does it feel on your shoulders?
Cushy with both the baby and the toddler. No diggyness at all.
How much diagonal stretch does the wrap have?
Due to the high linen blend, it has very little stretch which was expected. The stretch is similar to 50% linen blends that I have tried.
How supportive did you find it in a single layer carry?
I did a ruck tied Tibetian with both the baby and the toddler. It was plenty supportive for my toddler and we were comfortable for the 30 min that she let me wear her. There was no sag over time and there was no pain in my shoulders from the pressure of the wrap. It was thick enough and wide enough to carry her well. I do not foresee an issue with longer wearing with her either in a single layer carry. I do not normally ruck with the baby because he likes to try and pull out every strand of hair he can reach. I could get him nice & high and we were comfy in a ruck. I am amazingly not bald now.
Double Hammock is my go to carry for trying a new wrap since I can do variations of it with different sizes and can get a good feel for how the wrap will work for us. The first DH I did with this wrap I was able to get the middle marker dead center which tells me it is easy to wrap with. The weave is dense and the pattern is not extremely textured and should not pull easily. This gives the wrap a smooth solid feel in hand. The passes glide over each other well and the wrap has enough grip to lock the passes in place. Wrapping was easy with this wrap and I was able to get a secure carry quickly every time. Once wrapped, the wrap did not budge. There was no sag at all over time with either the baby or the toddler. I noticed that the density of the weave gave the shoulder passes cush without making the wrap too thick. I am a thin wrap girl and I find beastly thick wraps harder to wrap with, but this wrap was not beastly at all. This is a very sturdy wrap and neither one of the kids could wiggle, bounce, or pull their way out of it and my toddler tried pretty hard. The wrap I had was not fully broken in, but I think it will get nice and floppy with time.
Can you compare this wrap to another wrap already on the market?
Not really. The stretch is similar to the 50% linen Didymos wraps I had (Yew & Blue Linen Pfau). The weave density reminds me of Ellevill Zara but thicker. The pattern is beautiful and classic with no wrong side (each rail is hemmed to a different side).
Who do you think this wrap would best be geared to?
Everyone! It is easy to wrap with and worked great for both my baby and my toddler. It is sturdy enough to be an everyday (aka beater) wrap, and pretty enough to be a fancy occasion wrap. New wearers will be able to learn new carries without having to fight the wrap, and experienced wearers will enjoy a medium weight wrap with a lot of support.
Would you recommend this wrap to a friend? Why? What did you love about it?
Yes I would recommend this wrap. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to wrap with. This Danu Slings wrap is a combination of some of my favorite wrapping qualities. It has the right balance of slip/ grip, weave density, thickness, and support. I am also looking forward to more from Danu Slings.
Please tell us a little more about yourself:
I am a mom to an energetic toddler girl (3.5 yrs) and a happy baby boy (4.5 mo). I am a Volunteer Babywearing Educator for BWI of North Central Illinois and have been babywearing since my little girl was 2 months old. I started using woven wraps when she was around 8 months old. We have tried several machine & handwoven wraps since then and have played with different blends too. I have no idea off the top of my head how many wraps I have tried, but I am a serial churner with a good sized stash.
