Breaking in a woven wrap

You just received your wrap, but it's not as soft, floppy and cuddly as you were hoping for? Don't despair! I remember when I purchased my first woven wrap years ago, after wrapping with a Moby for awhile.  I was a bit shocked at how crunchy and stiff it was.  I almost gave up on wrapping, thinking that it wasn't for me (lol, imagine that!)  At the time, I had no wrapper friends locally so I'd never felt what a woven wrap was supposed to feel like and I was disappointed to be quite honest.  Long story short, I sold that woven and purchased an old used Didymos Paul.  It was love at first feel!  Paul was everything I dreamt woven wraps would be, moldable, cuddly and soft like a baby blanket. I started purchasing other wovens and found that I really enjoyed the "breaking in" process of it.  It's interesting to see how the fibers and the tactile of the threads change throughout time. Okay, but how do you get it to change? There are seve...

Natibaby Argyle Blue

Brand Name: Natibaby Wrap Name: Marsupial Mamas Exclusive Argyle Blue Reviewed by: Sara Stobart Size of Wrap: 6 Fabric Content: 50% Cotton, 50% Hemp How long has this wrap been used by you? 3 weeks What size is the wrappee? 14 months, 29 in, 20lbs What is the thickness of this wrap? Thick! Does it have cush? Yes! Argyle is super cushy, bouncy, springy! It absorbed impact like shocks on a car. When it arrived to me it felt somewhat like a two by four in hand and I have to admit, I was quite hesitant to see its wrapping qualities. After a hot wash, tumble dry and steam iron, this baby softened up a great deal. While I still wouldn’t describe it as super moldable post-wash, it definitely relaxed enough to be deemed CUSHY! How does it feel on your shoulders? Incredibly supportive. Secure. Firm. How much diagonal stretch does the wrap have? Just a bit of stretch. How supportive did you...

A Tale of Two Giras

Brand Name: Girasol Wrap Name: Earth Rainbow  Standard Weave vs. Boy or Girl Thick Weave Reviewed by: Sara Stobart Size of Wrap: 4 Fabric Content: 100% Cotton How long has this wrap been used by you? 1 week What size is the wrappee? 14 months, 29 in, 20lbs What is the thickness of this wrap? Medium, the second was thick for a Gira Does it have cush? I found both weaves to be really easy to wrap with, but the standard weave was not at all cushy or comfortable with my toddler. The thicker weave didn’t feel soft and moldable straight out of the bag like a typical Gira, but I had no problem wrapping tightly to my body. DS napped in a double hammock tied at shoulder for a good hour, maybe longer, and that boy did not budge. I’m talking plastered to my back solid. And he’s a wiggly toddler. I think from now on I’ll just call the thicker weave the toddler-tamer. Seriously. I think with some breaking i...

Natibaby Fumus Burgunde

Brand Name: Natibaby Wrap Name: Fumus Burgunde Reviewed by: Sara Stobart Size of Wrap: 6 Fabric Content:  13% Cashmere 87% Cotton How long has this wrap been used by you? 3 weeks What size is the wrappee? 12 months, 19lbs 5oz, 31.5 inches What is the thickness of this wrap? Thin Does it have cush? Because of it’s thinness, I wouldn’t say this wrap has marshmellowy cush. But it is like butter - you just can’t keep your hands off it - soft. Kitten belly soft! I found myself constantly rubbing LO’s tush and melting into this fabric. So perfect for a cool, fall day when you can slide your hands into the passes of a FWCC and bask in the warm, supple butter. Comfort at its finest. How does it feel on your shoulders? It honestly felt a little slippery at the shoulders. Still, I found it to be very supportive as long as I had a perfect wrap job. How much diagonal stretch does the wrap have? This wrap de...

About 2 weeks What size is the wrappee? 12 months, 27 inches, 23.5 pounds What is the thickness of this wrap? medium  Does it have cush? Ultimate cush, marshmallowy after a medium steam iron, and extremely moldable. How does it feel on your shoulders? I have picky shoulders and this wrap is nothing short of an absolute dream. It is very wide so I was able to spread it on my shoulders to absorb a lot of the weight from the little. How much diagonal stretch does the wrap have? on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most stretch. Kurpie is at about a 6. Because of this the wrap molded wonderfully around myself and baby. How supportive did you find it in a single layer carry? Very supportive and toddler worthy      ...

Oh Yes! Completely soft and moldable. It actually took me by surprise when wearing it. For a wrap of it’s thinness I wasn’t expecting the comfort and fluffiness that I felt. Dual and Tri-Weave are both medium thickness, with the tri colored being thicker. Does it have cush? Dual colored has a bit of cush.  Enough to make it feel squishy, but not an overwhelming amount.  The  Tri-Weave  doesn't feel like it has cush.   How does it feel on your shoulders? The dual colored felt nice and comfortable.  It was squishy and very soft.  I felt like I could be a little more lax with how I passed it over my shoulders because the cush was forgiving.   The  Tri-Weave  was s...

I've used it to wrap my 5 1/2 year old (40lbs) as well as my cousin's baby (roughly 20 lbs)   What is the thickness of this wrap? Thin   Does it have cush? no it's flat and does not have cush.  But because of how wide this wrap is (it's very wide, which was great with my big kid!), it allows for a cushy feeling on your shoulders when bunched.  How does it feel on your shoulders? My shoulders felt really good.  This wrap doesn't have a lot of give to it, so once you wrap it holds the carry in place well so there wasn't any sag pulling my shoulders.     How much diagonal stretch does the wrap have? there's a little diagonal stretch to it, just enough to allow for a wrap ...
